Will slotted brake rotors shorten my brake pad life?

I bought and installed slotted brake rotors and upgraded my pads to ceramic. However, I notice a lot of residue in the slots and I was just wondering if this will shorten the pad life due the wiping action of the rotors?

NOT REALLY but if you are getting the brakes hot enough to actually need the slotted rotors then THAT will DEFINATELY shorten pad life
